Libra-Plast AS was founded in 1954 and has been a family-owned limited company since then. In 1957, Libra started working with GRP composite materials (as one of the first companies in Norway). From 1960 until 1980, Libra-Plast made a lot of different products in GRP composite for the maritime industry, for instance Libra produced more than 200 units of 29 and 33 feet boats.

Libra GRP doors and hatches early became the main products of the company, which have been exported worldwide since the early 1970s.

Later Libra-Plast also started to produce metal doors and hatches and has today a full range of external doors and hatches for the maritime industry.

Libra got the first Type Approval for Weathertight Doors in Composite Sandwich Construction by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) as early as 1971.

For the last 10 years, Libra has specialized its production and has today the following main products:

• Watertight, Weathertight and Spraytight Doors and Hatches in GRP, Aluminium and Steel
• A-0 and A-60 Weathertight and Watertight Doors and Hatches
• GRP Cabinets and Containers for safety equipment
